How we design this website and how to tell us if something is hard to use.
Our commitment
The Crossness Engines Trust wants everyone to be able to use this website. We design and test it against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA as far as practical.
This statement covers the public website for Crossness Pumping Station. It does not cover third-party ticket sites or external apps.
How you should be able to use this website
- Navigate using a keyboard
- Zoom text without breaking layouts
- Use a screen reader for main content
- Understand page structure through headings and landmarks
How accessible this website is
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. We have not completed a formal independent audit. Last reviewed 18 August 2026. Known gaps are listed below.
What is not fully accessible yet
- We have not yet completed full keyboard, focus, screen-reader and contrast testing of the History Timeline and Toilet Timeline. If you cannot use either timeline, contact us and we will provide the information in another format where we can.
- Some older PDF documents may not be fully tagged
- The ticketing site, maps and newsletter service are supplied by third parties. If you cannot use one of them, contact us and we will provide the information or help you complete the task where we can.

Technical information
This website is built with WordPress and a custom Crossness block theme. We test in current browsers on phone and desktop.
Preparation of this statement
This statement was prepared as part of the 2026 website rebuild and will be reviewed as major sections go live. Physical access for visits is described on the Accessibility page.
